Dr Lisa Cameron MP was the first MP in Scotland to sign up to the placement initiative that will see secondary school students undertaking work experience offered by the Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) this year.
The Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) supports high-achieving young people from low-income backgrounds into top universities and professions.
SMF are driving the work experience initiative again after the success of previous years of the scheme.
Students will be working on a one-week placement in the offices of MPs during their October break.
Dr Lisa commented: “It’s important to encourage young people who are motivated towards a career in politics but require additional support to “crack the glass ceiling” and achieve their ambition.
“I am delighted to be the first Scottish MP this year to sign up to the scheme and I would encourage others to do the same, affording many more of our talented young people this opportunity.”
